The Sankofa Scholarship
"Sankofa" is a word from the Akan people of Ghana. It is symbolized by a mythical bird that has its feet pointed forward with its head turned back, picking up an egg. The term expresses the importance of using knowledge from the past to guide planning for the future. The Sankofa Scholarship seeks to award future Black Speech-Language Pathologists who are graduate students and understand the importance to "give back". With only 3.5% of Speech-Language Pathologists who identify as Black, our goal is to change the narrative and support individuals of color as we advocate for diversity in this amazing field.
Scholarships are awarded up to $1000 each semester.
